DevFacto Recognized as 2010 Small Business Owner of the Year Award Finalist
October 8, 2010
Congratulations to David Cronin and Christians Izquierdo of DevFacto Technologies for being finalists for the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award of the Year.
"We are both honoured and excited to have been selected as finalists for this prestigious award," said Christians Izquierdo, CEO of DevFacto Technologies.
From the beginning, DevFacto set itself apart from the competition by being financially sound, providing exceptional client experience, investing in employees and allowing them to be creative and innovative in client solutions.
Having complete control over the company’s finances has allowed Izquierdo and Cronin to focus on quality – there are no silent partners trying to pull the company in multiple directions. Izquierdo says he is proud of DevFacto’s ability to achieve growth without bringing in outside investors or taking on debt. "In the last few years, the downturn in the economy posed a significant challenge for a growth minded company like DevFacto. The challenge was to find forward thinking clients that were using the slow down as an opportunity rather than a risk and work with them to solve their IT needs that would ultimately position them for the better times ahead."
One of DevFacto's core values is to provide an exceptional client experience. There is free-flowing conversation from clients to DevFacto on every project, which is incredibly important to understanding and creating what the client is asking for. DevFacto takes client comments to heart and will update operating policy based on client feedback.
David Cronin, COO of DevFacto, says, "Our employees are our biggest assets and we recognize their importance to DevFacto's success. We are strong believers in intrinsic motivation but we need to provide a great work environment for everybody. For example, every employee has an office with windows, an electric height-adjustable desk, and large LCD displays. These modern office upgrades help keep the workplace enjoyable are a nice way to invest in employee comfort."
DevFacto provides numerous opportunities for its employees to grow their skills through a variety of sources, including quarterly DevFacto Development Days, where the office is shut down and everyone works on a project of their own, offering a demo at the end of the day. They also host monthly employee-planned socials in addition to corporately planned summer weekend parties.
"DevFacto is a fun place to work and we have a 100 per cent employee retention rate over nearly four years," says Cronin.
The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce is committed to creating the best environment for business. Winners of the Small Business Owner of the Year Awards will be announced October 22, 2010.
